The Manahan Group (TMG) won six Crystal Awards - three first place awards and three honorable mentions - at the 2005 Public Relations Society of West Virginia (PRSA WV) awards banquet Wednesday evening.
The Crystal Awards are the highest honor given by the PRSA WV for excellence in the field of public relations. Entries were judged for creativity, strategy and results by a panel of public relations professionals.
First place Crystal Awards were given to TMG for:
Rx for WV (Integrated Communications Campaign), a campaign planned and implemented with Brown Communications to increase awareness of the Rx for WV discount prescription program. One component of this campaign produced a 90 percent increase in RX for WV usage.
STD: Let's Get it On (Collateral Materials: Posters), a campaign targeted to college students with a prevention message about sexually transmitted diseases. The campaign reached hundreds of students around West Virginia.
Razing Awareness (Audiovisual Presentations), an in-school recruitment video for the Raze teen anti-tobacco campaign. The video was distributed to every high school in West Virginia.
Crystal Award Honorable Mentions were given for:
Raze Handbook (Special Purpose Publications), an anti-tobacco guide distributed to hundreds of high school teens and posted for download on the Raze website.

TMG CEO George Manahan said he was gratifed that TMG's work accomplished its clients' communications goals, and is also pleased that those accomplishments were recognized by PRSA WV.
